  • New Resident/Irrigation question
I am closing on a new house on East Bourne Lane, around mid-July (2011). I'm interested in having a well dug, along with a sprinkler system, for irrigation purposes. I'm somewhat aware of water restrictions, but is there any reason not to get a system? How much does a system cost? Is there a way to avoid the rust from the well?

  • Cypress Knoll Here We Come
Hi future neighbors! My husband and I purchased land on Edward Dr this past year and look foward to building a beautiful new home and retiring to Cypress Knoll in the next few years. We started visiting Palm Coast about 12 years ago and knew then that this is the place that we would like to retire. So last year we decided to go back and make it a reality. We looked at several beautiful homes but then decided that we liked the Cypress Knoll neighborhood and wanted to build our perfect retirement dream home there. I was also very excited to see that Forbes Magazine listed Palm Coat in the TOP 5 places in the US to Retire. Thank God! And then I stumbled upon this website about our future neighborhood. Is this site new? I do not see many comments posted.
Unfortunately, since we purchased the land, I have been online trying to get a feel for what has been going on in Palm Coast....I have been horrified by some of the blogs that I have been reading from current residents of Palm Coast (not necessarily of Cypress Knoll). I sometimes stop and wonder if this is the same Palm Coast we fell in love with or did I have blinders on when we made our last visit.
These blogs talk of no jobs in the area, bad politicians, declining real estate prices, businesses closing, bad schools and such ...then I think these people must be living under a rock, because this is just the way the country is right now, no matter where you live, the country is in trouble.... I sure we can deal with these issues, my husband and I will be retired and not in need of a job, we have no children so we don't have to worry about the school system and as far as bad politicians, we are from Rhode Island...so we are used to living with that.
What scares me is the talk of numerous gang activities and drive by shootings, graffiti on buildings, and such.....Again, we are from Rhode Island, and those problems do exist here too....but this type of activity usually exists in the city. We live in the Southern part of the state of RI by the Bay. It is peaceful and beautiful and we are hoping to find that atmosphere in the Cypress Knoll neighborhood as well.
Please residents of Cypress Knoll, although that Forbes article put an absolute smile on our faces, I am hoping that we made the right decision buying in this neighborhood.....Please give us some feedback on this neighborhood......we can take both the good and bad....we want to be sure that we made the right decision before we decide to build a home there....
  • Re: Cypress Knoll Here We Come
Greeting, future neighbors from Rhode Island! It's been a while since I visited this website, so I just now read your post. (I was thrilled that there was another post on here, lol!) We live on Emmons Lane. We moved to Cypress Knoll in Feb, 2010, be we've lived in Palm Coast since 2005. (Virginia transplants.)

There was some gang activity a few years ago. The last mention of it that I found was an article in the Daytona News-Journal, dated Oct. 2008. A dozen people were arrested, including the leader. According to Sheriff Don Fleming, 'We have cut off the head of the snake.' I have not heard of any gang activity since.

We are very happy that we chose Palm Coast, and even happier since moving to Cypress Knoll. It's a wonderful neighborhood -- very peaceful & quiet. (Except for the airplanes! But even those are not excessive.) I say relax and enjoy your future home!

    Best of luck!

    Cathy

Welcome to Palm Coast and to Cypress Knoll, my hubby and I have lived on Ellsworth Dr since 2004, we love it here, very quiet, nice friendly neighbors, close to shopping, schools, etc. We have never had any problems. Hope you love it as much as we do.
